As part of the Account Setup process you'll be required to enter some legal and financial information (boring 😴, but important) for the church and as an individual (as the Account Owner) on behalf of the church. You can access the Financial Setup section from the Settings Tab in your Control Center.

In your Financial Setup tab, there are three sections. To help your team review the necessary fields, we've included them below for reference.

Church Information

This section requires basic information about your church that helps our card processor verify your church as a real, local organization. "Know Your Customer" laws require us to collect this information when dealing with financial information and collecting and depositing money. You can learn more about these laws here.

Legal Church Name

Some churches have a different legal name that matches their tax ID, that's different from their current operating name. For example, your church might now be called "River Church" but it was originally setup and filed for tax purposes as "River Baptist Church of Tennessee". If this applies to your church, please enter the legal name here.

Legal Address

This is the physical address for your church. Similar to legal name, just make sure this matches your legal setup. This address cannot be a P.O. Box. As stated above, this is simply to verify that your church is a real church. We will not be sending anything by mail to this address.

Phone Number

This can be your church's main number or if there is an alternate phone number you use for legal or financial communications, you can enter that number here.

Tax ID Number (EIN)

To verify your church and to stay compliant with current laws and financial regulations, we’ll need your church’s Tax ID number. For Canadian residents, please use the first 9 digits of your government-issued business number.

Church Start Date

Some churches have two start dates: one when they initially gathered, and one when they formally legally gathered as a church. Input the original legal gathering date. If you don't know the exact date, as long as you know the exact year, input your best guess on the month and day.

Registered Legal Status

We'll need to know if your church has a legal Non-Profit filing status with the government. (Some churches haven't gone through this process yet, or have chosen not to for various reasons.)

Don't forget to save your changes at the bottom!

Deposit Account

This is the bank account where money will be deposited from your givers. You can always request to change this information later by sending a message to our support team.

Bank Name

This is simply the legal name of your bank.

Account Number Format

If your church is located in America, select United States. Below, you'll be able to input the routing number and account number of the bank account you wish all donations to be deposited.

If your church is located in Canada, select Canada. Below, you'll be able to input the account number, institution number, and transit number of the bank account you wish all donations to be deposited.

Account Type

Select whether your bank account is a checking, savings, or business checking account.

Legal Owner

Due to "Know Your Customer" laws when dealing with financial information and collecting and depositing money, we're required to collect this information. We only use this information for legal and financial verification so you can accept giving and receive deposits into your church account. Though it may seem odd to require some of the following information, rest assured we are only following the latest protocols of "Know Your Customer" laws. You can learn more about these laws here.

Account Owner's Name

Please identify who will be considered the financial owner of the account for legal purposes. Typically, this is the same person in charge of the financials or the person who signs legal agreements for your church — in many cases a pastor or other staff or board member. Please note, this cannot be your Church name.

Owner's Physical Address

This is the physical address for the legal owner of this account setup. Please note, this address cannot be a P.O. Box. Just like with your church's physical address, this is simply to verify that you, as someone part of the church, are who you say you are. We will not be sending anything by mail to this address.

Owner’s Phone Number

This is the best phone number to contact the legal owner of your RebelGive account. Again, this is simply to verify you are who you say you are, and you will not be receiving a phone call from our card processor during this process.

Owner’s Email Address

You can use the account owner's personal email, or set up a dedicated or direct email for the account owner that’s different from the main church email address.

Owner’s Tax ID Number (SSN or SIN)

As a part of staying compliant with current laws and regulations surrounding financial services, we're required to collect the account owner's Tax ID Number, which is usually a Social Security Number (for US individuals) or Social Insurance Number (for Canada individuals). Since your account will be connected to an actual person, not to your church's organization, the individual who opens the account is required to enter their SSN/SIN. Don't worry - there won't be a hard pull on your credit. Your number will simply be used as a basic identify verification.

Owner's Date of Birth

This is the birthdate of the account owner. Please ensure to input the date in the correct format of MM/DD/YYYY.
